Charlotte Mecklenburg Library is committed to bridging the digital divide in Mecklenburg County and providing affordable access to devices and home internet.
The MeckTech Computer Program distributes free laptops to Mecklenburg County adults without a home computer. Approved applicants receive a refurbished laptop optimized for accessing the internet, joining virtual meetings, creating documents, and more. Each applicant must be 18 years or older, live in Mecklenburg County, and have a valid email address to be approved.
MeckTech applications are now closed; there will not be another application window in the future. This grant-limited project has reached capacity for the number of devices we have remaining to distribute.
If you need assistance with devices and technology beyond the MeckTech program, contact our partners at the Center for Digital Equity by calling 311 and asking to speak to a Digital Navigator. A Digital Navigator can also assist with getting your household free or reduced internet service through the Affordable Connectivity Program.
