Remember, learning should be fun! Children learn best through play and luckily play always has an opportunity to teach your child something. Enrich this experience by participating in at least one activity with your child each day. Talk to your child about the game you are playing, ask questions, and look for learning opportunities to expand on, such as counting how many blocks your child stacks.

Make Comparisons
Use clear contact paper, attach geometric shapes (some clear and others opaque) to the sticky side of the contact paper. With your child, distinguish opaque from transparent using these different papers.
Paint
Show your child how some paints are opaque and other are transparent. Watercolors are transparent, and most other paint is opaque. Food coloring can be used to show transparent colors; adding confectioners sugar will make the colors become opaque.
Make your own color mixing gel!
Put a few drops of red, blue, or yellow food coloring in any clear hair gel. Once you have made these three primary colors, mix 2 of them in a sandwich bag to create a secondary color.
Create a building
Using craft stick, wood glue, and transparent plastic wrap, help your child create a building that has opaque and transparent elements.

¡Compare!
Corte varias formas geométricas usando papel transparente y
opaco. Use papel adhesivo transparente (como “Contact”) y pegue las formas del lado adhesivo. Ayude a su niño a identificar las formas transparentes y opacas.
Pinte
Muéstrele a su niño que algunas pinturas son opacas y otras son transparentes. La mayoría de las pinturas son opacas, a excepción de las acuarelas y los colorantes de alimentos. Ayude a su niño a pintar con pinturas diferentes y hablen sobre las diferencias.
