Before you begin to read, share with your child the name of the book’s author and illustrator. Explain that the author works on the words and the illustrator on the drawings and together they create the story. Practice writing and illustrating a story together! Your child can dictate the story to you and then you can both work on the illustrations. You’ll love their reaction when you read their words back to them!

Draw around everyday items.
Encourage your child to draw around everyday objects such as cups and plates. Talk about how when you draw around these items, they will form circles. This can start a discussion about other shapes in your house.
Make a comet!
Using tin foil, and cellophane, help your child make a comet. Place the streamers in the center of the tin foil, and wrap it around and form a ball. Your child can pretend they are in space and fly the comet around.
Go into orbit!

Go outside and play “around.”
There are many games that can be played in a circle. Duck, Duck, Goose is an old time favorite that your children will love.
