Mix your own colors
Locate a color wheel as a reference. Using any paint, mix opposite colors like orange and green to make brown. Mix different colors and make color swatches on a sheet of paper. Write down the colors of the swatches.
Explore textures
Gather a bunch of different textures and place them in a bin. Ask your child to explore touching the textures to determine whether they are different, opposite, or the same.
COMPARE OBJECTS IN NATURE
Go outside with your child and ask them to identify objects that are different from each other. Ask them “How are those objects different? Is there anything about them that is the same?”
PLAY A GAME WITH YOUR CHILD
Think of a word that has an opposite like “big.” Shout it out and see if your child can give you the opposite. This can be played at bath time, during meal time, and even at the grocery store.
