Children learn through interactions with people, places, and things. This year, find ways to make daily experiences learning opportunities. Talk with your child, ask question, and get dirty together about the world around you. This week, allow your child to help out in the kitchen with small, supervised tasks.

Make a Sandwich!
Take 2 crackers, add cheese, lunch meat, or peanut butter and make a sandwich.
Play restaurant with your family.
Make homemade play dough, using flour, salt, cream of tartar and food coloring. Make 2 identical cookie shapes and then add a third different shape to place in between.
Cook with your child.
Children learn early math concepts by cooking with caregivers. Give your child a task like crushing up the cookies or measuring the flour. They will remember this because they are doing it with you and they will learn early math concepts at the same time!
Play “Simon Says”!
It is fun and important to play games with your child. A popular one is “Simon Says” in which the leader says “Simon Says…” and when the leader does not say “Simon Says” if someone does the action, they are out. You can practice words like “in between,” “up,” “down,” etc.

Haga un sandwich
Tome 2 galletas saladas, agregue queso, carne, o manteca de maní y haga un sandwich.
Juegue al restaurante.
En casa prepare play doh. Es muy simple, solo necesita sal, harina, cremor tártaro, agua y color. Con el play doh, haga 2 formas idénticas y del mismo color y otra forma de un color diferente. Haga un sándwich.
Cocine con su niño
Los niños aprenden conceptos de matemáticas cuando cocinan con los adultos. Déle a su niño trabajos pequeños como quebrar ga-lletas o medir la harina para una receta. Los niños van a recordar esta experiencía porque estan ha-ciéndolo con usted y aprendiendo al mismo tiempo.
Juege “Simón dice”!
Es importante y divertido jugar con sus niños. Un juego facíl es Simón Dice.” Para empezar, seleccione a un líder para dar las instrucciones. El líder dice, “Simón dice…toque su cabeza” y todos lo hacen. Si el lider no empieza con la frase “simón dice” no lo deben hacer la acción. Los que hacen las cosas que Simón no dice, deben quedarse sentados hasta al final del juego.
