Did you know that the kind and number of words a child hears in the first 3 years of life will predict how well he or she will do in school? For that reason, talk in long sentences, ask questions and share words of encouragement. For example, if your young child points and says: “Blue car”, you can say “Yes, the blue car is going down the street; do you see all the windows it has? Let’s count them: 1, 2…”

Create sturdy structures
Use clay or play dough as the mortar and any small stones you can find outside. When you are done, let the clay dry overnight.
Make fragile sculptures
Use packing peanuts to create a fragile masterpiece. When the pieces are moistened, they will stick together. If they absorb too much water they will dissolve.
Find natural materials
Use materials you find in nature to build structures that could be fragile or sturdy. Discuss the sturdiness of the item you and your child create and experiment with ways to make it more or less sturdy.
Label objects “fragile” or “sturdy.”
Find various objects in your home and place them on a table. Create labels with paper and markers that read, “fragile” and “sturdy.” Help your child label the objects “fragile” or “sturdy” and discuss why they selected each label.

Creen estructuras resistentes
