Kids love getting a little messy sometimes, and doing so is a great learning experience. Things like painting and sculpting with playdough let your child’s imagination run wild, allow him/her to practice fine motor skills, and stimulate great conversations about what he/she is building or painting–all of which build early literacy skills.

Splatter Paint!
Dip large paintbrushes into diluted paint. Splatter white paper with different colors.
Paint with water balloons.
Add watered down paint to your water balloons. Hang up several pieces of poster board outside and throw away!

Pendulum Painting!
You can create a pendulum by putting a broomstick lengthwise between 2 chairs and attaching a cup with string. Poke a hole in the cup, pour paint in, and swing the cup to see what happens!
Make edible finger paint.
Add 2 tablespoons of sugar, 1/3 cup flour, and 2 cups of water in a saucepan. Whisk until smooth. Heat mixture and stir continuously until it thickens. Divide the mixture into plastic cups and add a couple of drops of food coloring or your choice to each. Allow mixture to cool completely before using.

En una olla ponga 2 cucharadas de azúcar, 1/3 taza de harina y 2 tazas de agua. Mezcle bien. Caliente la mezcla removiendo continuamente hasta que espese. Divida la mezcla en vasos plásticos y añádale un par de gotas de colorante de comida de varios colores. Deje que la mezcla se enfríe completamente antes de usar.
